About 6 moths ago I wrote an article asking how long it takes to secure a new position. Here is the link to that article https://skiptraceconsultant.wordpress.com/2016/04/26/how-long-does-it-take/. Do you know that I have not gotten one response?
I have had the opportunity to speak with headhunters and some have been very kind and some, I could leave messages for and they do not respond. I had the opportunity to speak with someone recently and she made some very interesting points about what employers want.
- Longevity on the job – I have had longevity with several companies and am seeking my final stop.
- A resume should be no more than one page.
- There should not be any job hopping unless it can be explained.
The collection industry is a volitle one. Many people will get terminated or leave for one reason or another.
I am not a job hopper a my humble opinion all though my resume might show otherwise. I spent 6 1/2 years with American Express, 6 1/2 years with Receivables Specialist, Inc, 3 1/2 years with Phillips and Cohen, Ltd, 3 1/2 years with Thompson and Associates, P.C. In my humble opinion that is longevity. I also have a wealth of knowledge.
Skiptrace Consultants, Inc has been around over 10 years. That is longevity as well. Some of the companies I have invested my time in were under-capitalized and therefore closed. Some companies I found to be violating the law. No one need to run the risk of getting into serious trouble. Another company the principle unfortunately landed himself in a prison cell. Certain things are explainable.
I was recently being considered for 2 positions because I have an excellent reputation. One company decided not to go further with the project that I would have been a part of. Another company decided to hire another individual. Why, I do not know.
Many companies will offer a commission only. That alone is a turn off this day in age. People need to feel secure and know that they can cover expenses. Why would someone take a position and work for free in the hopes that they will get paid?
Now how much longer will it take? My resume is located at http://sbtresume.weebly.com. Please feel free to call me at 954-290-6976.
There is a PDF copy of my resume that you can download. I am willing to travel worldwide for a company. I am willing to relocate as well.
